Drawn from my mother's background as a dentist, Mouthpiece for Theething originates from a rediscovered photo album where she preserved my milk teeth. The teeth that were salvageable are reassembled into their original anatomical positions atop the original printed clinical chart and the album page, layered over an aluminium sheet. Exhibited alongside are her handwritten notes documenting how and when each tooth fell. 

For an immigrant mother whose clinical practice kept her away often, this physical preservation was a way of archiving care when she couldn't be physically present. By reconstructing this dental record, the work becomes both a late recognition of her quiet affection and my own transition into the role of custodian of care.
